AUTF intends to cultivate a joyful digital space where undergraduates lead, innovate, and leave their mark on the world of design, one letter at a time.
The Anderson University Type Foundry (AUTF) is one of the world’s first undergraduate student-led type foundries, created at the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. This isn’t just a milestone for our university—it’s a celebration of a community brought together by a unified purpose – to share our unabashed, zealous, obsessive love for all things typographic. The essence of AUTF is a communal spirit of love and joy for the process of seeking, examining, researching, drawing, photographing, and crafting typography.
This inaugural public offering of student-created typefaces reflects a beautiful and unique blend of global inspiration. Drawing upon sources as disparate as the grandeur of Rome, Italy, to the small-town Southern charm of Anderson, SC, these typefaces tell the story of how geography, culture, and history can shape the visual language of type. It's a story written in curves and stems, serifs and counters, forged by hand and heart, and shared with joy.
We loved crafting the typefaces available at AUTF. And we hope that you’ll love using them too.
