A bold & condensed sans-serif born from the enduring charm of Valencia’s historic storefronts.

Calzado draws its inspiration from the handcrafted lettering of Calzados Gaspar, a family-run shoe store that has been a cornerstone of Valencia, Spain, for over 50 years. The store’s original sign, with its narrow and meticulously crafted forms, continues to hang above the entrance, embodying the legacy of dedication and craftsmanship that defines the shop. Its distinctive lettering stands as a testament to the timeless artistry found in the city’s streetscapes.

Using only five letters from the “Gaspar” signage as its foundation, Calzado was thoughtfully developed into a complete typeface that preserves the strong, condensed character of the original. Its narrow proportions and blocky design are perfect for impactful applications such as headlines, logos, and branding. Offered in just two carefully-crafted variations, Calzado maintains a focused identity, ensuring its distinctive style remains bold and uncompromised.
